- The Thing That Walks Out of the Wall
A line of footprints in the snow, shaped like a man's, with 6 toes. It walked from the foot of the wall to the back of the tower, turning aside for nothing, stepping into nothing, and then it simply stopped. The old wallmen say: that is not like a beast, it is like a person who has been forgotten.
2026.06.20 - The Three Houses of the Tomb Hierophants
The three great houses that keep the Royal Tomb, the rites texts and the examination of the dead for the dynasty: Greypen, Silverhall, and the third house. Three rows of bronze statues should stand in the Tomb Gallery; the 12 of the third house's row are all empty places.
2026.06.20 - The Three Coins and the Sangold Flow
The iron coin, the silver mark, the tomb gold — the right to strike coin lies with Ironhold alone. The Sangold League holds exchange, credit and transfer across borders, and cannot strike a single coin.
2026.06.20 - The Throne Calls Three Times
A line of old law nobody likes to bring up: when the Throne calls a man's name, it calls three times. For the first two, a member of his family may answer for him, “He is not here.” The third he has to answer himself.
2026.06.20 - The Mute WallFeatured
A wall of black basalt 100 metres high and 2,000 kilometres long, running across the far north of the world. The names of every lawful king are set into its face, and at night they give off a dim blue light, like a constellation laid flat.
2026.06.20 - The ThroneFeatured
The chair in the deepest part of the Iron Palace at Ironhold. Its back is woven of very fine lines of the old script, like a cloth that breathes, giving off a very faint silver light of its own. Whoever sits on it is called king.

- The Names Flaking off the WallFeatured
The kings' names set into the Mute Wall have begun to flake away stroke by stroke. Flaking that makes a sound is slow, and can be traced; flaking that makes no sound is quick, and cannot.
2026.06.20 - The God-Era Character 「空」Featured
There is a character on the surface of the old king's tongue, grown up out of the flesh, its strokes sunk into the tissue. The old scroll records: The first word appears upon the tongue of man, grows within the bone; the king dies.
2026.06.20 - The Hounds of the GodsFeatured
The things that come up at the Mute Wall by night. Three metres long, going on all fours, black-grey scaled hide, with no eyes at the centre of the face — only a depression. The howl comes out of that depression.
