Goran sets Lika his price of admission: the Rift mouth that has eaten three crews. Go down, bring the goods up, lose no one, and Goran will believe he's no worm. Lika crouches at the mouth and reads it with his Triggerer's locator-sense — the hazard isn't too strong, it has a rhythm (18 seconds still, 4 seconds moving). He throws no punch; by 'looking' alone, counting the beat, he hauls up what three crews couldn't reach. It shakes the men — and earns their envy. Goran smiles: 'You go by reading it.' Then his finger taps twice beside the screen wired to the surface — a tap meant not for Lika, but for the one higher up.
