The Net

The Net (Spectra-One) is the prime civilization's global system. The energy grid, the sensor cloud-layer, the information index, the archival records—all run on top of it. For the vast majority of people, The Net simply is the fact that 'the world runs normally.'

Its first malfunction was logged as an Error_513—an impossible message signed by a timestamp from 85 years ago. The system threw it up, and then, against the very thing it had thrown up, it was utterly helpless.

The Net records everything. The trouble is, it also faithfully records the blanks it was designed to be blind to.
