Fenjin spot-divining is not sorcery. It is a verifiable technique: the compass, sand-and-water, orientation, strata, wind-mouths, magnetic declination, the firing age of the tomb bricks, the ancient glyphs on the stone carvings—working through each one in turn is the only way to deduce where a tomb's true spot lies.
One who can divine spots reads the terrain, the breath-mouths, the run of the rock strata—not omens of fortune or doom. Get the spot right, and you go in alive and come out alive; get it wrong, and at best the ground caves in, at worst something strikes you.
The Fenjin school has an old saying: being able to find the spot doesn't mean you can understand what's inside. Some tombs, divined correctly, turn out to be a curse instead.
