In the special-exhibition hall after closing: the air conditioning dropped 0.7 degrees but the panel didn't change, the surveillance feed lagged 3 seconds, the guide text turned into ancient Egyptian symbols, and every exit vanished at once—behind the doorframe was a wall not yet dry.
After closing, the special-exhibition hall should hold nothing but the hum of the air conditioning and the footsteps of the intern on night duty. That night was not so.
The air conditioning dropped 0.7 degrees, yet the environmental panel in the corner showed the temperature unchanged. A layer of mist rose on the inner side of the glass display case, and the mist did not slide down. The surveillance feed lagged 3 seconds. On the wall, the guide lightbox turned its Chinese characters, one by one, into ancient symbols no one could read.
By the time the intern thought to report it, the engineering app could not connect, the phone had no signal, and every exit of the hall vanished before her eyes all at once—the door panels remained, but behind the doorframes was a wall whose mortar was not yet dry. After that night, her life could never again fit into those few words, 'museum intern.'
