The City's Other Side

A port city of the year 2065, maglev rails rising on freshly reclaimed land while the old quarter still keeps its oil-burning shrines. The river-mag line was built along an old Qing-dynasty river channel, 15 stops in all.

The last train on the river-mag line is at 23:48. But on some nights, after the last train, another comes that isn't on any timetable, bound for 'Platform Thirteen'—a place that exists on no line at all.

Every city has two maps: the daytime one records roads and administrative districts; the other, called the night map, records ley lines, wards, old shrines, and monster territories. Most people see only the first their whole lives.
